Hainan Province: the Latest Chinese Free-trade Zone
On Oct.16, 2018, the State Council of China unveiled a detailed plan to establish the country's southern province Hainan as a free trade zone (FTZ), which mapped out the target and scope for the FTZ development while identifying key industries that will see fewer foreign investment restrictions.
Among all strategies& policies in accelerating the development of the region, the establishment of Bo’ao Lecheng Medical Tourism Pilot Zone is in the spotlight.
Hainan Bo’ao Lecheng International Medical Tourism Pilot Zone, the first of its kind in China, was approved by the State Council in 2013. It enjoys nine preferential policies, including special permission for medical talent, technology, devices and drugs, and an allowance for entrance of foreign capital and international communications.Since being established, about 20 projects with a total investment of 19.8 billion yuan ($2.9 billion) have been set up in the pilot zone, with another 15 projects approved.
Supported by the Government of Hainan Province, as well as Hainan Health Commission, a field visit to Bo’ao Lecheng Medical Tourism Pilot Zone will be arranged, to let participants pay a close look at one of the most opened-up areas of China.
